Nicholas has a busy commercial and civil practice and has been instructed in a number of leading cases in the Court of Appeal, House of Lords (Supreme Court) and Privy Council. A great deal of his work has been for claimants acting under Conditional Fee Agreements, often in class actions, in professional negligence and financial/ investment mis-selling cases. He is recommended in the 2013 edition of Legal 500 as a leading barrister at the Professional Negligence Bar.

Nicholas has recently successfully acted under a CFA for the First Defendant in a high profile 6 week trial in the Commercial Court by Madoff Securities International Ltd (In Liquidation) against former directors of that company arising out of Ponzi Scheme run by Bernard Madoff . He also successfully acted for the Spanish pilots' union, SEPLA, defending a claim on jurisdictional grounds brought by British Airways in the Commercial Court arising out of their attempt to establish the business "Iberia Express" as part of their merger with Iberia.

Having completed the Stax Group Action, and other group actions, Nicholas is instructed in a number of commercial and chancery group actions, including advice given in relation to film and other finance and tax mitigation schemes; the non or delayed completion of residential developments in the UK and abroad and the return of deposits paid; the payment of discretionary bonuses to franchisees; the mis-selling of various financial products and property investments abroad; equity release schemes sold to expatriates in Spain, including the jurisdictional issues involved in Sherdley & Anor v. Nordea Life & Pension SA. He recently appeared for the successful claimants in a property development dispute (Harris & Anor v. Charalambous). He is also instructed in a number of cases involving management deadlock and oppression of minority shareholders. He periodically advises on conflict of law issues.

Originally from a common law background, Nicholas also has a substantial medical negligence practice and has been instructed in a series of cerebral palsy claims, including Goncalves v. Newham University Hospital Trust, in which he represented the successful claimant, and still does larger personal injury claims. He has considerable experience of mediations and Round Table Settlement Meetings to negotiate settlements.  Nicholas over recent years has developed a significant practice covering Wills, Contested Probate and matters involving the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

Nicholas speaks Spanish, French and other European languages at a more intermediate level and has a number of European and International connections and clients.  He is listed in the 2016 edition of Legal 500 for his professional negligence practice with clients commenting that he is
